Strategy
Really, in marketing, there’s strategy, commitment and project management. I can’t help you with the commitment but I’m pretty confident I can help you get clear on the strategy. And I can implement.
If you need an experienced marketing exec to take a fresh look at what you’re doing, particularly if you want someone who understands both online and conventional marketing, I believe I can help.
I’ll pull together what you teach me about your business, what I’ve learned from other sources and some creative inspiration into a short, coherent marketing/business plan. I don’t do long, bullshit reports.
Content
I write content. I write good. The content goes in ads and web pages. People are like “pleased”.
In the area of web sites, I believe in developing quality content that comes from a proper understanding of your business aims. That seems to produce good results. If you just want someone to spruce up your web page or sell you a package of productised services, I’m not the guy.
Advertising
I put together media campaigns and can see them all the way through. Print, radio, TV, All Other. My role is often to write the strategy, sometimes to write the ad and sometimes to project manage the production of advertising.
Public relations/Communications
Usually I recommend to clients that they find a professional in this area; you really want someone who works 100% of the time in the media. I can help you source the right PR company.
Research
Before I do anything I need to have an understanding of what you’re trying to achieve. I need to know where you sit in relation to your competitors and what your customers think of you and your industry. I do web-based research and I encourage clients to conduct in-field market research. I can assist in the briefing process which is most important in getting accurate, relevant results.
Project Management
I’m able to manage the whole process, from marketing strategy to production of advertising and analysis of results. Most clients want to keep their finger right on the pulse of it so the decision-making is usually a joint responsibility.
Rates
I still do some work on an hourly basis but for larger businesses am moving to project-based fees. For businesses seeking venture capital or early stage marketing advice, I sometimes take an equity interest instead of a fixed fee.
