Public Speakers - Cool Marketing Dudes
Public speakers
If you’re looking for an entertaining business speaker who’s funny, energetic and an expert in marketing, I believe Martin Grunstein is very good. In the event that he’s not available; Bret Treasure may, in some cases, be an adequate replacement.
Bret accepts speaking engagements from businesses who let him dress up nicely and pay him more than he thinks he’s worth. He also does a number of pro-bono talks to charity groups that meet his complex and almost completely arbitrary criteria.
As a practising stand-up comedian, Bret is an insightful marketing, web marketing, advertising, Internet research and virtual worlds consultant. And as a marketing consultant, he’s a great contribution to stand-up comedy.
In addition to after-dinner speeches, breakfasts and almost anything else that involves food, Bret is able to put together customised industry-specific presentations with a fair degree of humour. Corporate hoaxes are also a thing.
Bret is a member of the National Speakers Association of Australia.
Topics:
1. Cool Marketing
Are you struck by the predictability of most marketing and advertising? News flash: so are your customers. Using the restaurant industry as a case study, Bret discusses the ingredients of a cool marketing mix: Imagination, Personality and Positioning. Guarantee you this session will stimulate you to re-examine your marketing strategy. The aim is to have you leave the room in good humour and with at least one idea that you actually implement.
2. Business tools on the Internets
This is a rapid primer for businesses interested in squeezing more out of their Internet use. It covers website promotion, web marketing (including Adwords) and Wordtracker, describing how a modern keywords strategy is different to a three year old one. Bret discusses social software applications like blogs, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook and other online networking tools. Finally, you’ll have to endure his blabbing on about internet research tactics and what a wonderful business tool Delicious is.
3. Virtual Worlds
A message from the Virtual World: Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated
Virtual worlds like Second Life created a lot of media buzz, but some companies have walked away from the platform. This talk is a review of the state of play. Largely, the impact of virtual worlds is yet to be felt. Bret talks about Second Life, Club Penguin and open source virtual worlds, explaining why companies got it mostly wrong and why IBM has got it right. He forecasts a very different world inside ten years, arguing that virtual worlds will be more disruptive in their effect on business than the Internet.
